SP404 mk2 shortcuts

 enter knob + gate for 1-shot-once mode (no retrigger)

copy pattern to sample for bouncing

enter knob + fx bus to toggle bus 3 &4

shift and reverse to show mutes (so you can turn on and off pads)

mark button whilst recording to turn on and off "motion recording"

pattern edit, delete + mark to remove the motion recording from pattern

mutes are recordable (use remain button to keep the mute mode active), this automation must be toggled on and off by pressing shift & reverse though, it is not baked into the pattern)

pattern edit, delete +reverse to remove this automated mute stuff

shift + exit = stop

exit x4 = stop

increase SBS time in Settings to Long, for 40seconds skip-back recording.

Skip Back is accessed by pressing mark.


shift + remain for 3 seconds to get into Live mode. removes  access to del,rec, resample, copy


end snap toggled by pressing start/end when recording (before actually recording)


resample + enter knob in DJ  mode to change DJ crossfader curves


RESAMPLE pattern (NOT BOUNCE, SO FX ARE APPLIED).
make sure Record Count In is set to NONE. Not Wait. NONE. make sure Recording setup is set to MIX.

Start off in Pattern Select, Hit Resample, select the empty pad, then press the pattern you wanna record! 


Start/End on DJ mode activates Cross Fade mode!

Digitakt as midi controller in Ableton

Saw a cool (and old) youtube vid of some people triggering effects in Ableton, using the Midi track buttons on the digitakt. Eg triggering beat repeat etc. I struggled to get this working, then after some searches, remembered I forgot to enable the midi tracks haha. Make sure the midi buttons have a channel assigned to them and enable the knobs, then Ableton should recognise em as inputs.

sonicware liven pattern queuing for stutter

 Annoyingly you can't queue patterns on the Livens AND use the stutter functions. The work around would be to queue them on an external device and to send MIDI program changes. Firstly check the Liven device's midi settings and see which channel Pattern Change/Program Change has been assigned to. By default I think the Bass & Beats' Program Change channel is set to 16. Now you can send program change messages! Remember the Livens like to finish playing a pattern fully before playing a new one. So you *might* have to send the change a step or two before the end, if you're trying to sync it up with something else.

Digitakt pattern transitions

Taken from Wouzer's technique, mentioned on youtube & Elektronauts forum. Make a looped sample of your pattern and set it one track, with trig condition set to 1st Time Only & the play mode set to Forward Loop. Woochia  recommends putting this loop on pattern 16, since it's in the corner and easy to remember. I had been putting the sample on Track 8, but I think it might actually make more sense to put it on Track 1(kicks), as you'll probably blend into this last. When you switch to this pattern, the first thing you want to do is to mute all of the tracks. Since the looped sample is set to forward loop & only triggers the first time, it will continue to play regardless. We can abuse this by now switching to the next pattern - and the loop will continue - as long as you don't trig anything on it's channel. Now that you're on the new pattern, slowly bring in the other elements and at some point, activate the same track that the loop was on. Now you'
