Digitakt pattern transitions

Taken from Wouzer's technique, mentioned on youtube & Elektronauts forum.

Make a looped sample of your pattern and set it one track, with trig condition set to 1st Time Only & the play mode set to Forward Loop. Woochia  recommends putting this loop on pattern 16, since it's in the corner and easy to remember. I had been putting the sample on Track 8, but I think it might actually make more sense to put it on Track 1(kicks), as you'll probably blend into this last.

When you switch to this pattern, the first thing you want to do is to mute all of the tracks. Since the looped sample is set to forward loop & only triggers the first time, it will continue to play regardless. We can abuse this by now switching to the next pattern - and the loop will continue - as long as you don't trig anything on it's channel. Now that you're on the new pattern, slowly bring in the other elements and at some point, activate the same track that the loop was on. Now you're completely in the new pattern.

Things that are worth noting - you could transition to patterns with other tempos - on switching to the new pattern, whilst just the loop is playing, you could change the pattern bpm to match the loop's bpm, fully transition and then slowly lower/raise it back to the original bpm. Also - instead of deactivating all the tracks, you could leave on some that you do want to hear on switching to the new pattern, speeding up the transition, in a way. Take into account the bpm, of course.

something else Wouzer posts-

When I save the filter settings on my pattern 16 track 8 to HPF Freq = 0
and I also save the filter settings on my pattern 1 track 8 to HPF Freq = 0

then I know what to expect and I can use the filter like normal…
so with one knob (freq), I can take out the bass & kick of the loop…
to prepare the drop op the new track
and not have the problem to hear 2 songs, both Kick and Bass…

so perfect for mixing one track to the other
now all problems are solved
a short mix can be expected soon on youtube
